The Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology (EPPP) is constructed by the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards (ASPPB) with the assistance of Pearson VUE. This standardized examination consists of objective multiple-choice questions covering knowledge essential to the professional practice of psychology.

More information about the EPPP can be found on the ASPPB website and on Certemy, which offers “how-to” videos and step-by-step guides to assist with exam registration and scheduling.

The College must receive the applicant’s administrative fee before verifying eligibility with Pearson VUE.

Results

After an applicant completes the EPPP, ASPPB sends the official score report directly to CHCPBC, typically within 1–5 business days of the exam. Applicants must receive official confirmation of a passing score (500 or higher) before proceeding to the Oral Examination. To avoid delays, applicants should plan their study schedule carefully and be mindful of Oral Examination deadlines.

Examination attempts

A Provisional licensee may attempt the EPPP up to three times within any application period.

A Provisional licence will expire if the licensee fails an entry-to-practice examination for a second time. After the licence expires, the individual may continue attempting examinations as a non-licensee.

Under College policy, a maximum of three attempts is permitted for any entry-to-practice examination, whether taken while licensed or not (see Examination Number of Attempts (PDF)). An individual is eligible to apply for a Full licence only upon successful completion of the required entry-to-practice examination(s).
