When the governance framework for the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC was developed in preparation for the amalgamation that created the College, the CHCPBC Board was designed to include 12 members: six public members and six registrant members. Have you wondered why the Board was designed this way or how we have maintained profession-specific knowledge and expertise post-amalgamation?
On December 18, 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., Dianne Millette, Registrar and CEO of CHCPBC, Bradley Chisholm, Principal and Founder of The Regulator’s Practice — who supported the development of the College governance framework, including the Board composition and competency matrix — Kathy Davidson, CHCPBC Executive Director, Strategy, Governance, & Social Accountability, and Cathy Silversides, CHCPBC Manager, Quality Assurance & Professional Practice, participated in a registrant webinar about:
- the governance framework
- the governance responsibilities of CHCPBC’s Board
- how profession-specific expertise is applied to regulatory committee decision-making
- how the College stays current with profession-specific issues provincially and nationally
- the role of the Professional Practice Standards Advisory Committee and the professional practice advisors
