Renewals

Renewal of registration must be completed by December 31 of each year in accordance with College bylaws.

Renewal information and instructions are sent to registrants by mid-November and the forms are to be completed entirely online on the Alinity platform. Payment may be made within the platform (online) by credit card. Online payments through banks and cheques/ money orders are no longer accepted.

Registrants must ensure the College has a valid email address for them at all times. The email address must not be shared with any other registrant of the College.

As part of the renewal process, registrants are asked to:

  • Confirm completion of their continuing competency requirements.
  • Confirm the appointment of their professional executor. If your existing professional executor will no longer be registered with the College in the following year, please ensure you have identified a new one.
  • Provide details about their professional liability insurance coverage.

Criminal Record Check

Under the Criminal Records Review Act (CRRA), the College is required to ensure that each registrant completes a criminal records review conducted by the Criminal Records Review Program (CRRP).   There have been some recent changes to the CRRA including expanded definitions for conviction, the addition of six new offenses, and the requirement that registrants have a criminal record review every five years.  The College will contact registrants when their criminal records checks are due to expire and will prompt them to renew. Registrants should review the CRRA to ensure that they are aware of the changes to the CRRA that apply to their practice. Information about this requirement can be found at the provincial government Criminal Records Check website.

For most registrants, this can be completed online.  If you have received notice that you are due for a five-year re-check, please consult the instructions document which includes a link and profession-specific access code and review the walk-through guide.

If you are unable to complete the online process, please go to the registrant portal to download the consent to a criminal record request form and return it to the College along with copies of two acceptable forms of ID.  The Criminal Records Review Program no longer allows organizations to post this form publicly.  All registrants who are unable to use the online process must use this form as of October 5, 2019.  Any older versions of the form will be rejected by the CRRP.

N.B. The College does not accept shared results of a criminal record check previously completely with the Criminal Records Review Program for another organization.

Updating Registrant Information

Registrants may change their contact information, including address and phone number, and their employment information by logging into their account on the Alinity platform and submitting a Profile Update.

Business Names

The College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia does not regulate psychology corporations under Part 4 of the Health Professions Act, as the government has not enacted a regulation for the profession of psychology under s. 41. However, the College does specify requirements for naming psychology companies when the company name contains a title restricted under the Psychologists Regulation.

The College recommends that registrants carefully review Code section 10.19 “Use of restricted title in company or business name” prior to submitting a request for approval of a company name. Registrants should also wait until they receive consent from the College to use the restricted title prior to preparing a website or other advertising materials that will include the company name.

In order to receive the College’s consent to use a reserved title in a business name, please complete and mail or fax the form below to the College:
