We invite all registrants to the first webinar hosted by the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC
Family physician Dr. Rebekah Eatmon and physical therapist Robin Roots will share their experiences working as health care providers in remote First Nation communities. Through stories and casual discussion, they will talk about their approach to delivering health care that meets patients/clients where they are at and focuses on relationship building that is trauma informed.
This discussion aims to mirror the collaboration between an Indigenous physician (Dr. Rebekah) and non-Indigenous ally (Robin) as they reflect on their practice and act as allies and agents of change toward equity.
This dialogue will centre the CHCPBC Indigenous Cultural Safety, Humility, and Anti-Racism Practice Standard and ways in which it provides expectations for delivering health care in Indigenous communities and with Indigenous patients/clients. The discussion will also highlight ways to reconcile and redress the relationship between Indigenous peoples and health care professionals.
