Home 5 News 5 CHCPBC decision to sell legacy College of Optometrists of BC office space

June 19, 2025

The College of Health and Care Professionals of BC has decided to pursue the sale of the legacy College of Optometrists of BC (CDOBC) office space at 906-938 Howe Street in Vancouver. This decision was made after careful consideration of options to continue to use the space, the College’s operating needs, and our financial position.

Proceeds of the sale will support CHCPBC’s operations as well as ensure that we can continue our efforts to modernize and unify programs and meet our legislative responsibilities while keeping fees as low as possible. This includes the IT improvements such as the implementation of a harmonized registrant management system and preparing for the Health Professions and Occupations Act once it is in force.

With respect to fees, fee increases were applied to eight professions for the 2025-2026 renewal year. Fee increases ranged from 12 to 22 percent. The exception was for optometrists whose annual fee remained the same. This was result of optometrists having the highest annual fee and coming into the new College is a solid financial position.
