For Applicants

For Applicants

CHCPBC regulates nine health professions in BC: audiology, dietetics, hearing instrument dispensing, occupational therapy, opticianry, optometry, physical therapy, psychology, and speech-language pathology. Licensure with the College is required to practise in these professions in BC.

Update on Licensee Portal

Since January 2026, CHCPBC has been working to consolidate seven instances of the Licensee Portal into one. This work will soon be complete. The following are dates related to this work:

  • May 5: Information on changes to Licensee Portal and Public Registry published in Licensee Newsletter
  • May 11-13: Email notification sent to applicants (except for psychology applicants)
  • June 9: Second email notification sent to applicants (except for psychology applicants)
  • June 10: Applications, reinstatements, and profile updates in process and not completed, including payment where relevant, by June 10 at 4:00 p.m. (Pacific), will be withdrawn, with the exception of applications for psychology and for certified practice
  • June 11: The Licensee Portal will be offline at 4:00 p.m. (Pacific)
The Public Registry will not be updated until the Licensee Portal is online again
  • Week of June 15: The Licensee Portal will be available to licensees and applicants

Information for new applicants who have not started an application

If you are considering applying for licensure, the process must be completed by June 10 at 4:00 p.m. (Pacific). A completed process includes the submission of all required documents from external organizations and the payment of all applicable fees. To avoid having to resubmit your application, you may wish to wait until after June 15, when the consolidated Licensee Portal will be available. (Applications for psychology will transfer from the current system to the new one and are not subject to the same deadline.)

If you are an existing CHCPBC licensee and need information on the Professional and Quality Practice program, practice support, licensure renewal, or other licensee-related matters, see For Licensees.

CHCPBC’s response time to questions and requests from licensees, applicants, and the public may be delayed. The College is making major system changes to licensee portals and the public registry, administering CHCPBC’s first harmonized licence renewal period, and implementing extensive regulatory changes to align with the Health Professions and Occupations Act that came into force on April 1, 2026. Thank you for your patience and respectful interaction with College staff.
