Regulating Nine Health Professions In BC

The College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC) unites the regulation of professional audiologists, dietitians, hearing instrument practitioners, occupational therapists, opticians, optometrists, physical therapists, psychologists, and speech-language pathologists in BC. This integration ensures these health professionals possess the competencies to deliver safe, ethical, and high-quality care.

This amalgamation is a significant part of the Ministry of Health’s ongoing efforts to modernize BC’s health profession regulatory framework. By bringing these diverse health professions under one umbrella, CHCPBC aims to:

  • Centralize information: Serve as a single point of contact for information about the regulated health professionals.
  • Enhance public protection: Ensure consistent regulation across various health professions, enhancing public safety and trust.
  • Boost efficiency and effectiveness: Provide greater access to resources and expertise, streamlining the regulatory process.
