Notice of proposed amendments to CHCPBC Bylaws

The College of Health and Care Professionals of BC is pleased to share our 2025-26 Impact Report, offering an overview of the College’s efforts over the past year and highlighting the impact of that work on public protection, professional regulation and licensees across BC.

The Ministry of Health is engaging in public consultation to seek feedback on the proposed creation of a net-new restricted activity to assist in the regulation of psychotherapy and improve public protection for health professions providing higher-risk mental health services.

In June, the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC) transitioned to a single database for all licensees as part of our goal of achieving greater consistency in the way we regulate professions. As a result of this change, all applicants and licensees were assigned a new seven-digit Licensee number.

The BC Ministry of Health is amending the Regulated Health Practitioners Regulation to introduce access to over-the-counter hearing aids. These changes do not impact audiologist and hearing instrument practitioners’ scope of practice and restricted activities.

The BC Ministry of Health has launched a public engagement to identify what information, supports, and opportunities for involvement patients need after experiencing harm and to address Indigenous-specific racism in the health care system.

April 1, 2026 marks a significant milestone for the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC and for the regulation of health professions in our province. The HPOA introduces many changes to the way Colleges regulate health professionals.

CHCPBC’s regulatory committees include both licensee members and members of the public. The College is currently seeking licensee members for two committees to ensure adequate diversity of perspectives, lived experience, and profession-specific expertise.

As of April 1, 2026, psychology supervision plans will no longer be an acceptable practice authority in BC. This change will impact individuals who were applicants and not currently registered and are or have been providing psychological services under a psychology “supervision plan,” and psychologists supervising such individuals.
